-07- Pancakes & Blowholes

On the way to Punakaiki I crossed over a bridge of the Nile.

No Crocs here. Only in the main news on TV of that day. Happy
The first baby Crocodile was born in NZ. Being 15 to 20 cm long that fellow had already a dangerous look in its eyes as it would snap
for the person’s finger in the very next second.
NZ is blessed by having no dangerous animals in wild life. They have to import those in order to show them in a zoo.
***
Punakaiki is a very special geological place.
During the very active days of volcanism in NZ very thin layers of magma have been built.
Erosion over the following thousands of years shaped very attractive stone formations.
The sea shaped narrow channels accelerating flow of water and sometimes redirecting it. „Water mist fountains“ blown out of blowholes.
Always dependent on how rough sea is, you may see almost explosive fountains.
