Waiting for the Mountains to lift their cloudy hat

The alarm went off at 4:30 this morning. That was pretty early given that I was falling asleep not before 1:30.

Too much ginger in the ginger beer. That kept my system going.

Callum told us that the Red Crater is in clouds. it is raining up there and the wind chill temperature is -3C.
I was first to pull out of the crossing for today. Postponed it for tomorrow. One by one the others did too.

The risk is too high to get a shock or suffer from a stretch or something else.

One more rainy day in paradise.
Somewhere in a coffee shop, at least dry and at reasonable temperature.
Tomorrow will be the day in any case as I will move on back to Auckland for an appointment.

I took the camper and traveled 170km around Mt. Tongariro, Mt. Ruapehu & Mt. Ngauruhoe.

One corner were blessed with sun and clouds. But guess what there was a power plant nearby. 10s or 20s of different power lines screwed up the landscape. OK. Somewhere you need to get power from.
At least one panorama about a Military training ground I could do before Range Control kicked me out. It didn’t help that I was telling that I have been with Military in the past Happy.

On my way back I stopped by the Mahuia Rapids.

Some nice shots. Do you like them too?
