Towards Rotorua

***
a nice evening at „Ugly Ducks“.
The place was crowded with all ages.
A quiz was on show that night.

Funny questions, whereby a lot have asked for NZ insider knowhow.

In the morning it is raining as forecasted.
I’ll pack my stuff up and make my way towards Rotorua.

Rotorua is approx. 380km away. That’s a long day, as there are only two lane highways on the way.

***
60km after New Plymouth the road signs directs 27kms to Mt. Damper Falls.
The last 7kms are on a gravel road offering a full program of road slips and of sized fallen stones.

***
Mt. Damper is a volcano. The waterfall starts at the border of the caldera. Sheep are weeded in the caldera.
A panorama should leave an impression of the caldera. That must have been inconvenient times when Damper was spitting.

The waterfall is somewhat smaller than the ones I shot so far. The brown water seen at the top comes from the agricultural use of the area. Let’s say it straight - „sheep shit“ Happy .

Back to the point where I turned right off the main road to get to the waterfall.
Rain is now pouring down again.
That’s ok. I’Il make my way with 80km/h to Rotorua.

***
A silent night planned for today. I’ll go out on the Friday evening, tomorrow.

BTW I found again the non-alcoholic drink I loved in 2011.
Ginger Beer. Correct Beer not Ale.
Different brands exist. Schweppes is one of them.
I remember that I called them up back in Germany to ask where I may get it at home.
They told me „sorry thats a local drink only.“
What A pity.
So for the next two week I have something delightful to drink down here.
